Elkay designers focus on family, interactive entertaining

Over the years, as the kitchen has evolved into a central gathering spot in the home, traditional floor plans and appliances have been stretched to keep pace.

With this in mind, Elkay has created a futuristic concept sink that is perfect for parties or family gatherings and will showcase its new 360° sink at the 2004 Kitchen/Bath Industry Show in Chicago. The oversized undermount stainless steel sink features a faucet that rotates 360-degrees so that four adults can comfortably use the sink at the same time.

Whether homeowners use the striking design for family gatherings or to engage partygoers with group cooking assignments, we imagine designers will love this innovative design, says Mike Gicela, Elkay manager, product planning, sinks.

Designed for a kitchen island or secondary preparation area, the 28-inch by 38-inch undermount sink features a six-inch-high faucet pedestal positioned in the center of the basin. With an eight-inch turning radius, people working anywhere around the sink will be able to access the faucet.

The 6-˝-inch to 7-˝-inch sink depth provides ample room for oversized pots or cooking preparation tasks.

After the phenomenal success of Elkay’s 2003 concept sink, the Mystic by Elkay, the company is again hoping to catch the imagination of kitchen and bath professionals attending the trade exhibition. Also see; home floor plans.
