May 19, 2005 By: Sunny Thaver System Built Homes - Mass Produced Homes Reduce CostsSystem built homes offer prospective home owners a different option when it comes to having a home built on a new lot. Home buyers have a choice between purchasing a home that is custom built, which takes awhile, or buying a system home. System homes are constructed on site in a standard format taking advantage of standard materials that are pre-cut at the factory or even the lumber yard. Custom homes must be designed individually and all materials must be custom ordered to fit the design of the home or house. A system built home is constructed from materials that have been pre-cut and pre-shaped at the factory before they are delivered to the construction site. These homes are usually cheaper as a result since builders are able to gain efficiencies in several areas. First of all there is less damage to materials from construction accidents and all housing materials are manufactured in quantities that allow almost a mass produced approach to building a home. Carpenters can work in safer conditions and use templates to build portions of the house at the factory. Once the house material is delivered to the home, the material can be added to the home as if you were constructing a jigsaw puzzle. As house builders become familiar with the building system, houses can be constructed in short periods sometimes in less than a two month period which is much less than what you would see for a custom built home. System homes are attracting a lot of attention in building circles. Also see; vacation home plans.About
