Home Architecture Book – David Garrard At Restoration And Renovation

Well-known lecturer, cultural historian and author David Garrard Lowe will deliver the opening-day keynote address at Restoration & Renovation Chicago 2003 on September 19.

Mr. Lowe is the author of several notable books on architectural history, including Lost Chicago, which has just been re-issued in a new and revised edition by Watson-Guptill. The Restoration & Renovation Chicago 2003 event will focus on Chicago and its architecture as a paradigm of the twentieth-century metropolis. Mr. Lowe will draw on his extensive knowledge of Chicago's cultural history and the personalities who shaped its cityscape to elucidate how the architecture of the city evolved.

He has lectured widely in the United States and Europe, at New York's Metropolitan Museum, the Cooper-Hewitt Museum, the Smithsonian in Washington, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the San Diego Museum of Art, the Newport Preservation Society, and the American Academy in Rome. Mr. Lowe is President of The Beaux Arts Alliance, an organization dedicated to the celebration of the cultural links between the United States and France.
