Floor Plan Program – Visualize New Kitchens Online

ImproveNet has entered into a relationship with IMSI to offer homeowners a way to visualize new kitchens online or to modify existing floor plans to create their own dream designs.

ImproveNet's new, IMSI-powered Interactive Kitchen Visualizer features 15 kitchen designs that homeowners can view online or download and edit with free software from IMSI. It comes on the heels of ImproveNet's Kitchen Estimator, an online pricing wizard that lets homeowners experiment with product choices and compare the locally adjusted total costs. Together, the two tools make ImproveNet (www.ImproveNet.com) a key ally to help homeowners plan their dream kitchens and then find qualified pros to make their dreams a reality.

The Interactive Kitchen Visualizer offers five basic floor plans (galley, U-shaped, L-shaped, peninsula and island) with three different styles in each plan. By selecting a style, homeowners can work with three different programs to design their projects: a floor plan program, including two-dimensional and three-dimensional views; a CAD program; and a project scheduling toolkit.

The floor plan program is a light version of FloorPlan 3D Design Suite, IMSI's award-winning design and visualization software. This free version of FloorPlan allows homeowners to modify the size and placement of any item in the kitchen, including walls, cabinets and appliances. Homeowners who want more functionality can purchase Version 5 of IMSI's FloorPlan 3D Design Suite directly from ImproveNet. The next option in the new Kitchen Visualizer offers architectural drawings created with IMSI"s TurboCAD software. These fully editable drawings include a concise 2D CAD floor plan that features elevation views for each kitchen. Users can also purchase Standard and Professional versions of IMSI's TurboCAD software directly from ImproveNet.

Finally, to help understand how long such a kitchen project might take, the Kitchen Visualizer offers a light version of IMSI's TurboProject. Users can download project templates that are matched to each kitchen floor plan, giving them a general idea of the timetables associated with each remodeling job. They also can purchase the latest version of TurboProject from ImproveNet.

"For every kitchen template that we have, there's a project template that describes each step involved in doing that remodel," said Bob Mayer, IMSI's executive vice president of worldwide sales. "IMSI and ImproveNet have assembled a free toolbox of Web-enabled project design and management programs that literally bring to life the homeowners' remodeling ideas."

"Now you can visualize what your project will look like, create drawings to help communicate your dream to pros and anticipate the likely costs and construction timetable before work begins," added Bill Crosby, ImproveNet's vice president of editorial and product development.
